As far as I remember the first scholars blazer was awarded in 1971 to Karan Thapar or Kanti Bajpai (can't remember which). That was in Eric Simeon's time. The idea was probably conceived during Miller's incumbency. Also I think the move to the CDH happened in 1970 2nd term when SC Roy was acting. I could be off on these dates but you may want to recheck.
My late grandfather KC Joshi was the bursar during his tenure. I will see if I can learn more through my aunt.
