Introduction

He sold 100,000 copies of a book written completely in rhyme. While studying for a PhD. in Economics he went to China and published a travel guide. His second book, the voluminous A Suitable Boy earned him a handsome $1million in advances. It was the longest piece of fiction written since the 17th century. In Britain he has been likened to literary greats of the English novel. He is Vikram Seth and is in the press once again with the publication of his latest book, An Equal Music.
